- The PLAC Test for Lp-PLA2
In June 2005, the FDA cleared the diaDexus PLAC® test as the first blood test for determining the risk for ischemic stroke associated with atherosclerosis. In July 2003, diaDexus received FDA clearance to market the PLAC test as an aid in the prediction of coronary heart disease (CHD) risk. The PLAC test determines levels of Lp-PLA2 (lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2) in the blood; individuals with elevated levels of Lp-PLA2 have been shown to have an increased risk of ischemic stroke and coronary heart disease.
